Massive Outcry in Cyberspace as Tema-Sick Review Draws Flak from Public!

Since The Tema-sickening Review likes to paint up such a sensational headline to stir xenophobic sentiments in the cyberspace, I figured I would 'model' myself on them by having such a 'sensational' headline for them too. What do you guys/ ladies think of this headline, "Massive Outcry in Cyberspace as Tema-Sick Review Draws Flak from Public!" Feel free to give me some 'High Fives' but my name is definitely not Mr. Tan Kin Lian!

The screenshot above is a failed attempt to stir xenophobic sentiments as their gif animator image displayed only one side of the story again!

Please give your applauds to this brave lady below who spoke up the truth in defense of Ms. Feng Tianwei.
Below is what I found at The Tema-sickening Review's wall comment.

"Jia Hui Teo: sorry all but I was there yesterday at the arena. from the looks of it, she was aiming it at the singapore crowd who is unfortunately not in the shot. and even if it did end up in the hands of the PRC crowd, its not surprising because 80% present were PRCs. it would be hard to miss them. and the majority of team SG supporters were all the way on the other side of the arena which was miles away from the podium and because she had to go for her drug test (like all others) straight after, she couldn't have came all the way to throw it at us. let's give her the benefit of the doubt that in her excitment, she threw it into the crowds without much thought who it would have gone to.
and I'm sorry but to those who feels that Singapore doesn't deserve to be happy because she was Chinese-born, you really should have been there. She was representing OUR NATION and if you can't appreciate it then I suppose I'm glad those of us present did.

Now what is next? After their failed attempt, they decided another attempt shoot...

There is even a poll conducted by one of the anti-Singaporean or xenophobic? His action is getting us all confused, a Singaporean Citizen against a PRC Singaporean Citizen?

Now the FOOD FOR THOUGHTS...

Do anyone of you recall that Mr Tan Howe Liang won a Silver medal for Singapore in 1960 Summer Olympic Games in Rome? The best has yet to come...

Now the best part...., PLEASE OPEN EYES WIDE!

It means Singapore is not the only COUNTRY! Wanna compare apples and oranges? Think again...

Do we still need to say more?

  1. Amazes me that Singaporeans are searching for national 'purity'. To be deemed worthy we must now dig out all documents that prove we were born and bred here and never ever left the country. Seriously? Next we will be asking if your parents were born and bred here. How many days, weeks or months you have lived outside of Singapore.
Stop this narrow minded parochial craziness.

  3. Kudos to Tian Wei for winning but if we are comparing her with Tan Howe Liang, I think we need to know that Tan Howe Liang had been living in SIngapore since he was 4 years old and largely used his own money and expenses to train and compete.

There were reports now on how he is struggling with his wife's medical bills. I think there should be more support and fuss made over Howe Liang seeing the amount of sacrifice and yes, he won the silver medal with the caveat of citizenship or monetary award.

One cannot help but feel there is a certain amount of 'mercenary' involved here with the wholesale import with automatic citizenship and promise of prize money. Just saying.

    1. Please remember to see things from a more complete perspective. 1967 was 2 years after Singapore's independence, with alot of unrest and uncertainty of the future at hand that the government had to face and build. The practical thing to was to channel funds and effort into building social & economic security in place first. SG has reached a mark where we can afford to encourage growth in other aspects such as arts and sports. The THL argument is to say that we should all step back and not encourage by reward but by athletes own sacrifice to earn respect? To prove efforts are valiant only if not rewarded. What about if we all work for free in our companies in the effort to build our economy? To show we are patriotic by sacrificing monetary rewards that put food on the table and pay bills for all our time invested. If we say no way, what makes being a professional athlete any different? And if we are referring to local born SG athletes would you say the same thing?

To deny rewards is an act of neglect when you can afford it. A failure to recognize, reward and encourage sports growth. To-date would SG parents allow their children to follow a sports or hobby passion if there isn't monetary security? What are we teaching or grooming the next generations to be except just lawyers, doctors, engineers and nothing else? Years spent training for their country and denied financial support.

By having trained professional athletes here is to help set the stage for all future generation, to know that there is a silver lining in the spirit of sports. Sports can bind nations together, encourages sportsmanship and can set example of courage in the facwbof adversity as your country watches you play.

We should be thankful there are still professional athletes willing to call SG home after all these lambastic attacks. To help set a platform for future young athletes who aspires to play for their nation. It's a profession too and like any other jobs, all the sweat, time and effort needs to be rewarded. Yes, there were those who came and went, we are humans, all different, there will be those who will take advantage as there are those who will stay. If we condemn the latter because of former is failing to recognize we are all different, some gracious some not and that even if there's ONE great athlete who is sincere about staying, finds no comfort in doing so when they are not accepted.

SG is built on and relis on foreign investment, it is a fact that will never change. A fact so easily forgotten that all we do is complain, all negative views. One day we will all step back and say all these hinder we created for our future generation are regrettably very sad.

    2. Oh and I stand corrected that THL win in the 1960s was turbulent and young years for Singapore as a whole. Not 1967 in which he retired.

  4. Typo - meant to say "without the caveat of citizenship or monetary award"
